5-Day Break
- Day 1 – Local departure then onwards to Ypres for a four night stay.
- Day 2 – Behind the Lines (included) Cycle Ride 1. We will be riding to Poperinge, behind the British Front Line, looking at cemeteries used by the medical facilities, especially the cemetery at Lijssenthoek. - Day 3 – The Front Line (included) Cycle Ride 2. We will follow the curve of the Ypres Salient. The ride takes in some of the major British cemeteries of the Passchendaele offensive and visits the German cemetery at Langemarck. There will be an opportunity to visit Varlet Farm and see how a modern farm deals with the aftermath of the Great War. We will also visit Tyne Cot Cemetery, before seeing Polygon Wood and Hill 60. B
- Day 4 – Messines Ridge (included) Cycle Ride 3. Cycling south of Ypres, we will make our way along the Messines Ridge, the scene of the largest detonation of mine explosions under the German lines in June 1917.
